About Me

One Girl.......
I am a girl (actually at 39 more of a woman but remain happily in denial), a single mother of two boys, a girlfriend, and a mountain biker. My other passion is skiing, but living in the Lake District has it's limitations. Two and a half ago I found myself divorced and without my children for two evenings a week. What on earth could I do to fill the gaping hole of silence when my boys weren't there? I can't ski on a Tuesday evening so I turned to an old favourite, mountain biking. I persuaded a group of guys to take me out on a ride, initially forcing them to delay their ride for hours waiting for me. After my fist induction ride their response was "yeh you can come out again, but you will have to get better!" They weren't joking. And so this is what I am doing, I am trying to get better and this is my story.

I wrote this introduction a year and a half ago and things have changed a bit. In my quest to show the boys, I have ridden almost every week, found my inner competitiveness and have entered a few races, have joined Roots MTB development racing team and have a personal trainer at the gym to improve my fitness. I have met lots of wonderful people, especially other fabulous ladies who ride and I am loving the journey! Oh yeh and the guy who told me I needed to get better? I can now kick his ass on the trails! (almost!! ;-) )

In 2015 I entered 7 races and managed to get on the podium at 5 of them, including one top step! I also was offered sponsorship from Flare Riders Clothing Co which is just amazing! So excited to join the Flare riding crew for 2016.

Goals for 2016? Keep on racing, continue to love the journey and continue to podium, which with the ever increasing numbers of awesome ladies racing is becoming more and more difficult. My training goals are to gain more confidence on the bike and in myself, and try to master steep rooty muddy trials and jumping.

Two Wheels.......

I started on my vintage hard tail Giant that I bought in Canada for $100, I loved it but it there was no travel on it anywhere and the v brakes gave me a few sketchy moments! I swapped this for the fab Saracen Ariel, which was a full sus mens small size. It was perfect to develop my skills on but soon became too small for me. I then took a leap forward and swapped it for the awesome Mondraker Dune. I am in love!!

Big Dreams...........

To get on that top step!!!

I made it once at the end of 2015, my dream for 2016 is to get up there again......
